“In June 2018 we embarked on a project to knock our garage down and build a single storey pitched roof extension with exposed oak truss beams. We initially went with a builder who provided a marginally lower quote…
In February 2019, after months of little work and constant delays and excuses, we were in a very stressful position and had to change builder.
We were very fortunate to get Arrow & Son to salvage this project. Since they have taken on the job, the stress has gone away and great progress has been made in a short space of time. Not only are we now informed of what is happening and who will be on site, but the quality of workmanship has been excellent. Phil and his team have certainly delivered everything they promised.

“We interviewed four contractors for a midsize project in December 2018 – rebuilding three rear rooms and a 3.5m rear extension to our semi-detached house. Phil was the most responsive, articulate and analytic of our needs, discussing what we wanted from our budget and time concerns. These were pressing: my wife and I were expecting a baby in six months, and needed the work finished beforehand. Phil was up for the challenge, and went even further: we had discarded a full-width set of bifold doors as seeming originally too expensive – Phil was quite clear that the room would be compromised without that feature, and found a way to make it fit inside our budget.
The work was neat and tidy, with several different teams working at the different specialities – Phil’s crew included all the skills we needed to complete the project (including a specialist flooring contractor) which made everything dead simple. My wife has a family background in construction and building maintenance so there was a lot of pressure for a high quality in all aspects of the construction, which Arrow exceeded with ease.
During the process we came across several snags: for example the drains were not as marked on Thames Water’s maps, our flooring turned out to be not what we thought it was (and thus needed a completely different installation) but each time the general attitude was “stop, assess, consult.”
We very much felt that our wishes were taken into account and when problems emerged there was a clear briefing on what the issue was and the options moving forward: this was excellent customer service.
I’m sitting here writing this on the 26th June. Building was completed on the 21st of May, and the finishing touches completed the week before my son, Julian, was born on the 12th June.
I could not have asked for a better project experience, and my wife and I are very happy with the results: a light, airy kitchen/dining room with loads of light and an excellent quality evident in every aspect of the construction. I thoroughly recommend Arrow’s if you have similar construction needs.”
